NY Times Editor's Choice, Kirkus Best Fiction of 2012,
Starred reviews: Kirkus, Publisher's Weekly, Library Journal, and Booklist.
Born and raised in Iowa, I studied drawing, graphics, and (briefly) theater design at the
University of Iowa in Iowa City. Shortly after, love and other opportunities took me to Sweden for 10 years, working freelance as an illustrator, then full time in the art department of the daily newspaper Sydsvenska Dagbladet in Malmö, and as Senior Art Director for IKEA.
This overseas adventure was followed by a move to NYC and work for Macy's, Sotheby's, Seth Godin Productions, Clickspring Design and numerous freelance clients.
Writing? A lifelong interest and practice, it got serious in the
MFA Creative Writing program at Goddard College in Vermont. My thesis project,
The Stockholm Octavo, was published by Ecco Press in 2012 and translated to 14 languages.
I currently have two polished novel available for perusal: Meeting Martha and Miss Hall's Last Costume. A third novel, Midtown, a near-future cli-fi adventure, is in process.
There's more on the books and info pages, but this is plenty for now. Cheers!
